Finally…

The view from the patio at the camp in Alaska and the Freewrite that I wrote the first draft of Tidal on.

In January, I finished the manuscript for Tidal, my scifi horror novel set in Alaska. Then I scrubbed it and did the “Oh crap I changed that characters name half way through, and oh shoot I need to fix this plot hole” edits.

And…last week? I sent the manuscript off to my developmental editor.

I had been working on Tidal since 2021, when I visited a remote campsite in Alaska. I had initially gone up there to work on my other series, So Others May Live. Whoops.

While sitting on the porch of my yurt, with absolutely no signal, miles and miles from rescue, I got to thinking, what would happen if a tsunami hit the camp…and what if that tsunami were to bring up something from the depths of the Bering Sea?

Over the course of the week, I wrote 70k words. Then, when I got back to the mainland, life continued to happen, and I had to work on the book in my spare time.

A few weekends ago, I did a pitch event through the Women’s National Book Association, where I met a few agents who are interested in the trilogy, so I am focusing on getting an agent even while I have started working on the second book in the series.

Keep an eye out here as I will be putting in updates on the journey to getting the trilogy published, as well as sneak peeks into the first book- Tidal.
